Your adventure begins whilst you arrive in Negombo, a seaside town referred to for its vibrant fish markets and picturesque seashores. Spend some time relaxing and admiring the beauty of the seashore town whilst absorbing the tranquil environment.
As you depart Negombo for Kandy, stop at Chilaw to visit the old temples of Mannarwari and Munneswaram. These well-known Hindu temples are revered as holy locations of pilgrimage, honouring Lord Shiva. After arriving in Kandy, enjoy a quick city tour to see the cultural attractions of the ancient sites, including the revered Temple of the Tooth Relic and the stunning Kandy Lake.
Nuwara Eliya is often known as Little England because of its tranquil setting. Visit it to document your spiritual experience. Seetha Amman Kovil and Sri Baktha Hanuman Kovil are two major Hindu pilgrimage sites related to the Ramayana epic.
Depart from Nuwara Eliya and go to Bandarawela, an old-fashioned hill hamlet surrounded by lush tea plantations and foggy mountains. Visit Gayathri Pedam, a tranquil Hindu shrine dedicated to Goddess Gayathri, and Divurumpola, the known location where Sita encountered the Agni Pariksha in the Ramayana.
Travel to Ella, an old-fashioned tiny city known for its magnificent scenery and cascading waterfalls. Visit the nearly 80-meter-high Ravana Falls and the intriguing Ravana Caves, which are supposed to be the evil King Ravana's hiding place in the Ramayana epic. After you've absorbed all of the splendour, head to Kataragama. Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists all appreciate this massive sacred place.
To get an idea of the spiritual atmosphere in Kataragama pay a visit to the well-known Lord Murugan temple. Look around the Ussangodas coastline where it is said Hanuman landed during his search for Sita. A unique journey is about to begin for you. See the typically expansive Rumassala Temple in Galle then continue with the day's itinerary to see the Seenigama Temple in Hikkaduwa and the Sri Anjaneyar Temple in Colombo.
